WWE Night of Champions 2015 Results

– The 2015 WWE Night of Champions Kickoff Pre-show opens with Renee Young, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton and Booker T outside of the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Booker gets a big hometown pop. They hype tonight’s show and we go back to Tom Phillips in the social media lounge. He plugs the #WWENOC hashtag. Fans can submit questions for The New Day to answer with the hashtag #SaveTheTables. We go back to the panel.
– The panel talks more about tonight’s card before we go backstage to Eden and Sheamus. Eden heard Sheamus has groundbreaking news and she asks what it is. Sheamus says he’s made just a few friends while he’s in WWE but they look out for him. He reveals that Seth Rollins will defend his titles in back to back matches tonight – John Cena first and then Sting. Sheamus says he will cash in on whoever wins, Sting or Rollins. We go back to the panel for more discussion.
– We come back from a break and talk about the WWE Intercontinental Title. Eden is backstage with Kevin Owens. He says the title means more money and a better life for his family so he’s taking it tonight. Eden brings up Ryback but he cuts her off and says Ryback will be back to burying himself in self-help books. We go back to the panel and Saxton is the only one who believes Ryback will retain. We get video packages and more discussion on tonight’s WWE Divas Title match, Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler and the WWE Tag Team Titles. We see The New Day backstage messing with Tom Phillips in the social media lounge. Back to a break.
Stardust and The Ascension vs. Neville and The Lucha Dragons
We come back and Michael Cole welcomes us to ringside. He’s joined by Jerry Lawler and JBL. We get a look at The Cosmic Wasteland attacking Neville three weeks ago ad what has happened since. We go to the ring and our first comes Stardust with Konnor and Viktor as Lilian Garcia introduces them.
Sin Cara and Kalisto are out next followed by Neville. Konnor starts off with Cara and they go at it. Cara fights him off and hits a nice arm drag out of the corner. Viktor tags in but so does Kalisto and they double team Viktor. Konnor comes back in and then tags in Stardust as they keep control of Kalisto. Stardust with a slam and a stomp. Fans chant for “Cody” now. Viktor comes back in and they keep Kalisto in their corner with quick tags.
Stardust comes back in but Kalisto gets the upperhand. All six men face off in the ring now. The Ascension gets sent to the floor and then Stardust. Neville and The Lucha Dragons leap out onto them and stand tall as we go to commercial.
Back from the break and Stardust is in control of Kalisto. Kalisto drops Stardust but didn’t see Viktor tag in and gets ran over. Viktor and Konnor double team Kalisto for a 2 count. Konnor with a big slam across the ring before tagging in Stardust. Kalisto fights back but Stardust nails a clothesline and tags in Konnor for more offense on Kalisto. Viktor comes in and goes to powerbomb Kalisto from the second rope but Kalisto turns it into a hurricanrana. Neville and Stardust tag in. Neville decks Konnor off the apron and also takes out Viktor. He unloads on Stardust with kicks. Neville with more offense in the corner. He goes up for Red Arrow and nails it but Konnor breaks the pin. Kalisto runs in but gets hit. Sin Cara sends Konnor to the floor and then leaps out onto him. Stardust ducks a kick and slams Neville for 2. Fans chant “Cody” again. Stardust misses a Disaster Kick and gets superkicked. Neville goes back to the top but Viktor cuts him off. Stardust shoves Viktor into Neville and hits the Queen’s Crossbow for the win.
Winners: The Ascension and Stardust
– After the match, The Cosmic Wasteland celebrates.
– Tom Phillips is backstage with The New Day. They kick him out of the social media lounge and Big E reads questions from fans. They laugh at the idea that one of them will go through a table tonight. Phillips comes back in and The New Day makes him say “save the tables” as they get hype for tonight’s match. We go back to Renee Young and the panel for a video package on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. The Wyatt Family. Graves speculates their mystery partner may be Samoa Joe. They talk about the back-to-back matches for Seth Rollins. Saxton doesn’t believe Rollins will win both matches. Booker says we haven’t even scratched the surface on how good Rollins is yet. Renee points out that Sheamus will be lurking and that’s it for the pre-show.
– The 2015 WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view opens up with a video package featuring several Superstars and Divas talking about their matches tonight. We’re live from the sold out Toyota Center in Houston with Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler as the pyro goes off.
WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Kevin Owens vs. Ryback
We go to the ring and out first comes WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback to a pop. Kevin Owens is out next to a much bigger pop. We see the Spanish announcers at ringside as Owens makes his way to the ring.
The bell rings and they lock up. Ryback shove Owens to the mat. They go at it ad Owens looks to get the upperhand but Ryback takes him to the corner. Owens turns it around but Ryback drops him with a shoulder. Ryback presses Owens and dumps him over the top to the floor. A “feed me more” chant starts up as Ryback stands tall in the ring. Ryback goes to the floor and brings it back in but Owens meets him and drops the arm over the top rope. Owens rams Ryback into the ring post and sends him to the floor. Owens slams the arm into the ring post and brings it back in for a 2 count.
Owens continues working on the arm as the referee warns him. Ryback fights back but Owens kicks him in the mouth. Owens keeps control and works on the arm, telling the referee to ask Ryback if he submits. Ryback fights out with a headbutt but Owens takes control again. Ryback is complaining about his elbow. Owens with a side Russian leg sweep for a close 2 count. Owens stands on Ryback’s arm in the corner and yells out to the crowd. Owens with another takedown and hold on the arm as fans try to rally for Ryback.
Owens with more focus on the arm and another 2 count. Owens hits a headbutt but misses a clothesline. They both collide and go down. Fans chant for Ryback and he drops Owens with two shoulders. Ryback with a powerslam and a 2 count. Owens blocks a powerbomb and backdrops Ryback. Owens yells that Ryback will never powerbomb him and gets hit with a spinebuster for a close 2 count. Ryback gets up and readies for the Meathook clothesline but runs into a kick for a 2 count. Fans chant “fight Owens fight” now as they go back and forth. Ryback hits a big clothesline and calls for Shellshocked. Owens slides out and sends Ryback into the ring post. Ryback kicks out at 2. Owens drops Ryback by the arm for another 2 count. Owens with another hold on the arm but Ryback powers up and slams him. Ryback scoops Owens for Shellshocked but Owens rakes the eyes. Owens rolls Ryback up for the win and the title.
Winner and New WWE Intercontinental Champion: Kevin Owens
– After the match, Owens takes his title and has his hand raised on the entrance. He’s fired up about becoming champion as we go to replays.
– Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker is announced for Hell In a Cell, as well as a Steve Austin podcast with Lesnar next month on the “Go To Hell” tour for Lesnar.
– Rich Brennan tries to get a word backstage with Rusev and Summer Rae.
Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler
We go to the ring and out comes Dolph Ziggler in tights. Rusev is out next with Summer Rae. They go at it and Ziggler sends Rusev to the floor early on. Fans chant “USA” as Rusev teases coming back in the ring but stalls. He come back in and Ziggler tries to take him down. Rusev blocks it and applies a hold. Rusev drops Ziggler with a spin kick for 2.
Ziggler fights back but Rusev knocks him out of the ring. Rusev follows and sends Ziggler into the barrier. Rusev brings it back in and keeps control as Summer looks on. Ziggler gets a 2 count off a roll up but Rusev knocks him right back down for a 2 count. Rusev with a headlock now. Rusev grounds Ziggler again and yells at him about Lana. Fans chant “we want Lana” now and it’s getting to Rusev.
Ziggler makes the big comeback and splashes Rusev in the corner. Ziggler with a neckbreaker and an elbow drop but Rusev kicks out at 1. Rusev catches Ziggler with a big tilt-a-whirl slam for a 2 count. More back and forth. Ziggler with a pair of roll-ups for two counts. Rusev blocks the Fame-asser and drops Ziggler into the turnbuckle. Ziggler ends up hitting the Fame-asser for a close 2 count. Ziggler goes to the top and Rusev knocks him off but he lands on his feet. Rusev drops him with a superkick for another 2 count.
Ziggler ducks the big kick and applies a sleeper hold on Rusev. More back and forth. Ziggler nails a big DDT. Rusev catches a superkick and they trade more counters. Rusev nails a kick for a close 2 count. Rusev thinks he won the match and even has the referee raise his arm but the referee explains the match isn’t over. Ziggler is still knocked out while Rusev wastes time. Ziggler hits a superkick for a 2 count. Summer leans on the ropes to yell at the referee and Ziggler gets sent into the ropes, knocking Summer into the ring. The referee ejects Summer and sends her to the back as fans boo. Summer throws her shoe at the referee but it hits Rusev and knocks him back, allowing Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag for the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
– After the match, Ziggler celebrates as Summer looks on in shock. We go to replays. Ziggler makes his exit and walks right past Summer on the floor.
– We come back from a break and see WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella backstage warming up as Brie Bella and Alicia Fox look on. We also see Charlotte backstage with Ric Flair, Paige and Becky Lynch.
WWE Tag Team Title Match: The Dudley Boyz vs. The New Day
We go to the ring and our first comes WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day. Xavier Woods talks about how we have a problem – the table poaching Dudleyz. Big E says hope is not lost as The New Day is on a campaign to save tables worldwide. Kofi Kingston plugs their #SaveTheTables online petition and claim they have an endorsement from President Obama, which gets booed. Bubba Ray and Devon are out next to a pop.
Kofi starts off with Devon as Woods begins playing his trombone at ringside. Back and forth to start the match. They go to lock up again and Kofi grabs Devon from behind. More back and forth. Kofi with a big slap to the back of Devon’s head. Devon is pissed as he clotheslines Kofi and works him over in the corner. Kofi slides out of the way and goes to the floor to avoid a Dudley Death Drop after Bubba tags in. The New Day regroups on the floor. Big E tags in and dances in front of Bubba, calling him an old man and telling him to go home. Bubba rushes Big E and pushes him back on the mat. They lock up and Big E applies a headlock, tightening it to the tune of the fans chanting. Devon tags in and they double team Big E for a 2 count.
Bubba with another tag. He runs into an elbow in the corner. Big E goes to the top but Bubba cuts him off with a right hand. Bubba climbs up for a superplex and hits it for a 2 count. Kofi comes in and Bubba hits a big backdrop. Big E runs right back in and Bubba knocks him back out. Woods gets on the apron and Bubba tosses him to the mat. Woods distracts Bubba, allowing Kofi to dropkick him from behind. They unload on Bubba in the corner with several quick tags now. Big E whips a Kofi dropkick into Bubba as The New Day stands tall and Woods runs his mouth. Kofi with a knee to the face and some stomps. Big E tags in and hits a big splash on Bubba on the apron. Big E with a 2 count as Devon breaks it.
Big E with a headlock now. Bubba fights out but Big E drops him with an elbow for a 2 count. Woods is playing the Rocky theme now as Woods comes in and unloads on Bubba with punches. Bubba hits a right hand but Kofi kicks him in the face. Bubba keeps fighting and won’t give up. Kofi unloads while Bubba is on his knees. Kofi comes off the top and Bubba catches him in a Bubba Bomb. Devon tags in and unloads on Kofi. Devon with a big flying shoulder. Devon nails Big E, sending him off the apron. Devon drops Kofi on his face and knocks Woods off the apron. Devon with a Thesz Press ad right hands to Kofi. Devon with a headbutt and a splash in the corner. Devon with a clothesline. Bubba tags in and they double team Big E. They hit the 3D on Kofi and go for the pin but Woods runs in and kicks Bubba in the head for the disqualification. The New Day retains.
Winners by DQ: The Dudley Boyz
– After the bell, The New Day beats The Dudleyz down and celebrate. Big E yells, “Woods! Get the tables!” and he brings one in. The Dudleyz fight back and send Kofi and Big E to the floor. Woods turns around and gets put through the table with a 3D. The Dudleyz stand tall as their music plays and Woods remains laid out on the table.
– We get hype for tonight’s WWE Divas Title Match.
WWE Divas Title Match: Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella
Eden reminds us that the title can change hands on a DQ or count out. Charlotte is out first with Becky Lynch and Paige. WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella is out next with Brie Bella and Alicia Fox.
Nikki stalls to start the match but comes back in and they go at it. There’s an early spot where Charlotte lands out on the floor and looks to hurt her knee. She comes back in but Nikki gets the upperhand and goes to work on the knee. Charlotte gets leg whipped from the apron to the floor and Nikki brings it back in with more offense. Nikki works on the knee as Charlotte yells in pain. We see Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina Snuka looking on backstage.
Charlotte blocks a shot to her leg and nails a forearm but Nikki comes right back and kicks the bad leg out for a 2 count. Fans chant for Charlotte as Nikki keeps control of the match. Nikki uses the bottom rope to work on the leg and the referee warns her. Nikki with a half crab now. Charlotte looks to start a comeback but Nikki takes the leg out again and laughs. Nikki keeps control for another 2 count and starts to show frustration.
Nikki slams Charlotte’s leg into the ring post now. Nikki with a ring post Figure Four before coming back in. Nikki with a 2 count. Nikki with another half crab as the referee checks on Charlotte. Charlotte crawls to the bottom rope and Brie and Alicia pull it back. Nikki yells at them for getting involved. Paige and Becky run over to take out Brie and Alicia. Charlotte with a roll up for 2. Charlotte gets up and starts fighting back. Charlotte with a neckbreaker and a big boot for a 2 count.
Nikki blocks a backslide with a back kick to the bad leg. Nikki with another 2 count. Nikki suplexes Charlotte into the bottom rope again. Nikki with another takedown and pin attempt. Nikki goes to the second rope but Charlotte catches her with a spear. Charlotte applies the Figure Four and bridges into the Figure Eight for the win and the title.
Winner and New WWE Divas Champion: Charlotte
– After the match, Ric Flair hits the ring and gets emotional with Charlotte They’re both crying pretty good. Paige and Becky Lynch join the celebration as Charlotte raises her title. Flair raises her arm a few more times to get a big “whooo” from the crowd.
– JoJo catches up with new WWE Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens backstage. He shrugs off talk of controversy surrounding his win and says he’s not letting anyone ruin this for him. Owens brags some more about how good he is before walking off.
– We get a backstage segment with Ric Flair and Team PCB talking about celebrating. Flair has another moment with new WWE Divas Champion Charlotte.
– We get hype for tonight’s second six-man match.
The Wyatt Family vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho
We go to the ring and out comes Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Braun Strowman. Dean Ambrose is out next to a big pop. Roman Reigns makes his way through the crowd to another pop. They enter the ring and a fan appears out of nowhere. WWE security tackle him and takes him out. Chris Jericho comes out to a huge pop and he’s the mystery partner.
Harper and Ambrose start things off. Jericho quickly comes in to a big pop and goes at it with Harper. Jericho gets a “you still got it” chant before tagging in Reigns for some double teaming. Braun tags in next and stares Reigns down. They trade shots and Strowman scoops him. Reigns tags and Ambrose comes in to double team Strowman. He takes it and drops them both with a shoulder. Jericho comes in but Braun catches him. Braun presses Jericho high and throws him out onto Reigns and Ambrose.
Braun brings it back in and works over Dean before tagging in Wyatt. It comes down to Reigns and Harper going at it. Reigns with a sitdown powerbomb for a 2 count. Reigns with big forearm shots in the corner. Reigns knocks Harper out of the ring with a big right hand. Wyatt distracts the referee while Braun grabs Reigns. Reigns decks him but turns around to a superkick from Harper and a 2 count. Bray tags in and works over Reigns for a 2 count. Braun comes back in and keeps Reigns down. Braun manhandles Reigns and tags in Harper as they keep Reigns in their corner. Wyatt works over Reigns on the floor and brings him back in for a 2 count. Wyatt tosses Reigns back to the floor. Braun stalks him but Ambrose jumps on his back. Braun dumps Ambrose over the barrier. Reigns fights back on Wyatt in the ring now. Jericho tags in and unloads on Wyatt.
Jericho decks Braun off the apron and hits the bulldog on Wyatt. Jericho with the Walls of Jericho on Wyatt now. Harper eventually runs in and breaks the hold to boos. Ambrose runs in and dropkicks Harper out of the ring. Bray grabs Ambrose for Sister Abigail but Ambrose rolls him up for 2. Bray blocks Dirty Deeds and they both go down after colliding with clotheslines. Braun and Reigns tag in. Reigns unloads. Braun misses a clothesline and eats a Superman punch, and another. Ambrose comes off the top and knocks Braun down finally. Ambrose dives out onto Harper on the floor. Reigns with a spear on Braun. Fans chant for Jericho as Reigns waits for Braun to get up. Jericho tags himself in and hits a Lionsault but Braun kicks out. Reigns didn’t look happy. Wyatt takes Reigns out on the floor. Back and forth, Braun blocks a Codebreaker twice and manhandles Jericho, planting him on his face. Braun grabs Jericho and chokes him out for the win.
Winners: The Wyatt Family
– After the match, Braun and Harper stand tall in the ring as Wyatt taunts fans from the floor. We go to replays. The Wyatt Family leave together and taunt the babyfaces from the aisle. Bray asks if this is the war they wanted. Reigns and Ambrose look on as Jericho gets up. Fans chant “Y2J” for Jericho. Jericho walks out of the ring and deliberately bumps into Ambrose on the way out. Fans boo that. Ambrose and Reigns look on as Jericho walks to the back.
– We see Seth Rollins backstage in his white and gold gear. Stephanie McMahon and Triple H walk in and get him hyped up. They both think he’s ready as he walks off to the ring. Sheamus appears with his Money In the Bank briefcase and says he’s also ready. Sheamus walks off and we go back to the announcers to hype tonight’s main events.
WWE United States Title Match: John Cena vs. Seth Rollins
We go to the ring and out comes John Cena as fans sing their own version of his theme song. Cena tells the camera it’s time to get serious as he runs to the ring. WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins is out next to put the latter on the line.
Eden does formal ring introductions and both Superstars get very mixed reactions but the crowd seems ready. The bell rings and they lock up. Cena take it to the corner and they break. We get dueling chants and some stalling before they go at it. Cena with right and left hands. Rollins runs into an elbow. Cena with a 2 count. Cena slams Rollins into the turnbuckle but runs into an elbow. Rollins slams Cena for a 2 count. Rollins take control and kicks Cena around. Rollins with more offense. He turns Cena upside down in the corner and hits a big double stomp for a 2 count. Rollins with more stomps in the corner.
Cena almost steals a win but Rollins cuts him off. Rollins shows off to some cheers as he stands over Cena. Rollins signals for the Five Knuckle Shuffle but Cena gets up and hits the shoulder tackles. Rollins comes right back with a neckbreaker. Cena slams Rollins and fans boo as he calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Rollins kicks him in the face and drop him for a 2 count. Cena blocks a Pedigree and slams Rollins. He blocks another Five Knuckle Shuffle attempt and hits the Destroyer for a 2 count.
More back and forth out of the corner. Cena with a close 2 count. They trade shots in the middle of the ring as fans go along with them. Cena catches Rollins in mid-air and goes for the AA but Rollins lands on his feet. Rollins with a kick to the gut and a kick to the face for a 2 count. Rollins knocks Cena back to the floor as fans do dueling chants for Cena. Rollins runs the ropes and leaps out onto Cena. Rollins lands on his feet and barely clipped Cena’s shoulder. They come in and Rollins goes up top but misses a frog splash as Cena rolls out of the way. Fans chant “Eddie” for Eddie Guerrero.
Cena with a tornado DDT out of the corner for a close 2 count. Rollins takes it back to the top for a superplex and carries it into another suplex for a 2 count. Cena ends up applying the STF in the middle of the ring. Rollins makes it to the bottom rope. Cena goes for an AA but Rollins turns it into a roll up, then a powerbomb attempt. Rollins powers Cena into the corner for a 2 count. Rollins goes for the Pedigree but Cena backdrops him. Rollins lands on his feet. Cena hits a crossbody but Rollins rolls through and stands up with Cena in his arms. Rollins puts Cena on his shoulder for the AA but Cena counters and slams Rollins on his face. Cena goes to the top and hits the leg drop. Cena with another AA for the win and the title.
Winner and New WWE United States Champion: John Cena
– After the match, Cena celebrates while Rollins grabs his other title. Rollins goes to leave but Cena cuts him off and reminds him he has another match. Cena talks trash and brings Rollins back to the ring, leaving him laying. Cena makes his exit as his music hits.
WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Sting vs. Seth Rollins
Rollins is recovering in the ring as the referee checks on him and we hear the crows. Sting make his way out.
Sting wastes no time and goes right to work on Rollins. Sting tries for an early Scorpion Death Lock and a Death Drop. Sting backdrops Rollins to the floor. Rollins looks like he’s leaving but Sting stops him and sends him into the steel steps. Sting throws Rollins into another set of steps as the referee counts. Rollins starts crawling away but Sting follows. They bring it back in the ring and Rollins goes to work on Sting with kicks in the corner.
Sting clotheslines Rollins to the floor and follows. Rollins grabs a monitor to hit him with but drops it as Sting sends him into the barrier. Sting sends Rollins into another part of the barrier before bringing it back in the ring. Sting keeps control and they fight back to the floor. Rollins crawls over the announce table to escape but Sting grabs him. The Network feed cuts out and comes back to Rollins walking away with his title as fans boo. We see Sting laid out on a broken Spanish announce table. Rollins comes back and Sting gets up. Rollins slams him onto the broken table. Rollins brings it back in the ring for a 2 count. Rollins talks trash to Sting now.
Rollins with more offense and close 2 counts. Rollins talks trash and Sting rocks him with right hands. Sting gets up but Rollins kicks him. Rollins with the powerbomb into the corner for a 2 count. Sting blocks a Pedigree and backdrops Rollins to the apron. Rollins goes to springboard in but Sting sends him flying into the floor and the barrier. Rollins comes back in and Sting meets him with strikes. Rollins with a kick. Sting with a clothesline and another. Sting with another clothesline and a Stinger splash. Sting with another splash and a clothesline to send Rollins back out of the ring. Sting goes to the top and nails a crossbody on Rollins and the floor. A “holy shit” chant starts up.
Fans chant “you still got it” now. They come back in the ring. Sting blocks a scoop slam and nails a Death Drop for a 2 count as Rollins gets his foot on the bottom rope. Sting with another Stinger splash. Sting mounts Rollins with right hands in the corner. Rollins turns that into another buckle bomb. Sting comes at him but Rollins kicks him in the kidney. Sting ends up going down and the referee calls a trainer over to check on Sting. Rollins shows off as fans boo. Sting gets to his feet and talks with the referee and trainer in the corner. Sting pushes the trainer off as Rollins continues to show off. The trainer leave and here we go again. Rollins with a kick to the gut. Sting counters a Pedigree and applies the Death Lock. Rollins makes it to the bottom rope and breaks the hold. Rollins drops Sting with an enziguri. Sting blocks another Pedigree and goes for the Death Lock but Rollins turns that into a roll up for the win.
Winner: Seth Rollins
– After the match, Rollins grabs his title at ringside as we go to replays. Sheamus comes out with his briefcase and Rollins is laid out. He looks to cash in but Kane’s music interrupts and out he comes with his mask. Kane chokeslams and Tombstones Rollins. Sheamus comes back in and encourages Kane to hit another. Kane chokeslams him. Kane hits another Tombstone on Rollins and leaves him laying. Kane’s music hits and Night of Champions goes off the air with him laughing.
